Nice Day

What an enjoyable day! Stopping in at the elementary school first thing to take care of a few items related to the yearbook and then off to a fun day of shopping in Leesburg with my friend Linda. Stopped in at the outlet mall and hit all the good stores: crate & barrel, old navy, williams sonoma and pottery barn....then headed over to Ross and Tuesday Morning....then hit Costco for our wine and Super Target. Oh! and don't forget a fabulous lunch at the Blue Mountain Grill. We've eaten lunch there twice now and both times have been excellent. Wish it was closer to home. Managed to make it home just in time to get changed for work. Party was a little boring, but since I've not worked in a while it didn't matter. Tips weren't great: $36. Now just gotta wait for Amy to finish up so I can pick her up. What's in store for tomorrow?

Procrastination

It's evil. An evil, evil vice. Why can't I be rid of it! I have so much to do, but yet, I just IGNORE IT! So many creative things I really want to do, and yet, I just JUST THINK ABOUT IT! I will continue to sit here and 'work' on the computer.....eat.....talk on the phone.....and NOT GET ANYTHING ACCOMPLISHED! Then, it's crunch time and I beat myself up mentally for procrastinating. It's a vicious, vicious cycle. How to stop? I know, let me see if there is a book at the library that will help me with this problem (read: more procrastination). What a loser!

The Library

Frederick County has a very decent library system. Over the last year or so, when my daughter was taking guitar lessons at Boe's Strings in the city, I would spend the entire 30 minutes (woo-hoo) exploring the C. Burr Artz branch. The children's room is huge and filled with books for all levels, computers and extra space for the kids to do their thing. The lower level also holds plenty of books on tape/cd. Lots of various music cd's (Stevie Ray Vaughn!) and dvd's. Upstairs there's a great selection of periodicals alongside comfy chairs to read. Many computer stations are scattered throughout the upstairs along with work tables and meeting rooms and there's a "Maryland Room". There are books upstairs too: A great teen section. A Large Print book section. Fiction and Non-Fiction, naturally. Parking is free for library patrons in the garage adjacent to the building. But what I love best about the library is that everything is FREE (just return your books on time!)!

Since I had a planned weekly visit to the library, I really started taking advantage of all their services. If I saw a book review on tv or the paper and wanted to read it, I'd get it from the library instead of purchasing it. I'd check the catalog for any cd's I'd like to burn before making a purchase. You can view the entire catalog from the comfort of your home, as well as reserve books on the library website http://www.fcpl.org/. If the Frederick library system doesn't carry a certain book, you can go to "Marina" and get a copy from another library system in Maryland. The librarians will help you with this service, but I've done it many times on my home pc.

I'm sure this is not an eye-opening revelation, however I am often surprised when my friends and neighbors do not even think to check the library before going out to purchase a book.

Snow Day

It's finally snowing. Light but pretty. Sticking somewhat. Kids are excited, happy and outside! Thank you mother nature for this easy stay-at-home day of snow. The slick plastic sleds work great on our slightly sloped sidewalk on the side of the house. Hope I have enough hot chocolate mix in the house! Made chocolate chip cookies for my friend who lost her aunt today and had a few leftover for us to enjoy. There's nothing like a lazy snowy Sunday.
